The world has vastly changed, comparing it to a generation ago. Humans have stumbled upon very innovative marvels that skyrocketed our improvements exponentially within a short period of time in recorded history. Basically, our technological leaps from 20 years ago up to now dwarf that of the technological advancements for hundreds of years that mankind has existed. What this entails is that everything is moving at such a high pace, and everyone is benefitting and getting harmed from it. You basically don’t have to go outdoors to live nowadays. In fact, there are people in Japan dubbed as “shut-ins” as they never leave their rooms, yet they survive completely (albeit not healthily).
Everything you need can be delivered right to your doors. Food, items, grocery, and even health services could all be done within the comforts of your home. Even going to the cinema is not that much of a demand because of how much entertainment one can get from modern television and streaming service. Does it really make sense to go outside nowadays?
We’d argue that yes! It completely is. Whether it’s a step outside for fresh air, or a traveling activity with lake vacation rentals in Lake Minnetonka, MN, or even going to parks, there are a whole lot of benefits to going outdoors. In fact, let’s try to explore a little bit of them and encourage you to go outside every once in a while! These suggestions will not include the usual responsibilities such as work or school because those are somehow mandatory activities that you have to do with your day. Without further ado, let’s go!
Socialization – Man is a social animal. It is proven science that everybody needs to socialize with each other, or they will become decrepit in the fastest of ways. Social psychology studies show that isolation from a group is one of the worst things one could do to a person, cutting off his or her ties. Such situations occur a lot for people who barely go out. Interaction on the internet is not enough. Humans are literally biologically programmed to interact and spend time with one another personally, and the short dopamine boosts you get with chatting will just not suffice. Going outdoors and talking with anybody, not even your friends, could totally change that. This also has the added benefit of building social skills, which will help you network better and connect to more opportunities in the long run.
Vacations – Being stuck in a home for a long time leads to a very boring, routinely, and lifeless situation. You do the same action every day, with little to no variations of it. Humans are also geared for change and dynamism, and being stuck inside your homes is the opposite of that. Taking a vacation or two every month or so gives your mind a chance to breathe a little. It will help you destress and relax so that you’d be better equipped to handle your responsibilities. You’d also get to enjoy new scenery and views all around the world and appreciate nature. You’d be surprised just how breathtaking some views are outdoors, and I strongly urge you to explore them.
Physical health – Going outdoors can improve your physical health. Taking a walk around the block for 30 minutes every day will vastly improve your quality of life, as compared to being sedentary and sitting on a chair for hours. This is because your body needs activity in order to not lose its muscles and function. What the body doesn’t use, it discards it. Therefore, if you don’t walk around enough, do not stretch your body outside, or do not maintain your joint functions; your body will decide to discard it. This is just how humans are made, and you can abate this by going outdoors. Try out some of these activities, and notice how well they will improve your way of life!
